Excellent item, build quality seems very high and with the unusual styling is just a bit more aesthetically pleasing than the run of the mill Leatherman.

The knife blade is split about half way down so it's about 50% smooth and 50% serrated.

Obviously the freestyle has limited tools available so don't get one of these thinking you are going to have the usual tool set available.

Review of Leatherman Freestyle by: Steven McDonald from Sainte Foy Tarentaise. Date:  11-10-2011
I purchased this tool for mountain bike use. No need for a bigger Leatherman as I have all the other tools I need on a bike-specific tool. Good points: the design is neat and compact. Lives in the bottom of my pack and doesn't weigh much. Pliers work well and the knife is frighteningly sharp. Blade-locking mechanism is secure and easy to use. Bad Points: the wire-cutters aren't up to the job of cutting a bike gear cable. I'm a bike guide and this was the main reason for buying the tool. I hadn't expected them to be able to cut cable outers, but would have thought they would make a clean cut on cable inners. It's possible to get through a cable, but it will make a fairly messy and frayed cut.

The Freestyle is an excellent little pocket tool! Although it's lighter than the full sized models, it still has a really good solid feel to it when in use. Overall, a brilliant little tool that handles really well. Highly recommended!
